Lemon or citrus peels can be kept with Jaggery and water over 30 to 90 days to make a bio enzyme which cleans clothes and floors!

Ratio is 1:3:10 – Jaggery to Citrus Peels to Water.

Keep in an airtight container for 3 months, releasing the gas every day for first 1 week, then alternate days for 1 Month, then once every week.

One of our volunteers, Meera, attended a bio enzyme making workshop and here is what she learnt there. The ratio is 15:10:3:1 – 15 is the capacity of the wide-mouthed airtight container, 10 parts of water, 3 parts of kitchen waste, 1 part jaggery. For 30 days open and mix,  For next days keep closed airtight. Ready for use after that. To avoid: onion, radish, cauliflower, cabbage, garlic, brinjal, raw banana, banana stem, flower and leaf, beetroot, pomegranate skin wastes These are to be avoided due to color, stain, and odor.
